Chapter 6 - Imagination
Hill begins this chapter by stating "The imagination
is literally the workshop wherein are fashioned all
plans created by man. The impulse, the DESIRE, is given
shape, form, and ACTION through the aid of the imaginative
faculty of the mind.
It has been said that man can create anything which he can imagine."
I have heard many cases where people, who began a Network Marketing
business and built it very quickly, said they did not know what
they were doing but they were "Ignorance on fire." In other words,
they did not understand how the business worked, what they were
supposed to do but they just shared their business any way they
could think of.
These people made use of their imagination and did whatever
needed to be done. They did not worry about what others thought,
they did not worry about getting is perfect, they did not
worry if they would get a "no", they just knew what they
wanted and went after it any way they could.
That is what you call a "burning hot desire".
Hill also tells us "DESIRE is thought impulse!"
We all know what we desire but do we think past the thought
of our desire? Thoughts are great but what advantage are
thoughts if they only remain as thoughts?
The "Enchanted Old Kettle" is a story of the Dr. having
a thought but the Clerk had thought and he added imagination.
The magic of the Old Kettle only became alive when the Clark
added imagination. "Truly, thoughts are things" only if they
are carried forward by imagination.
Thoughts can be beautiful and we can imagine all kinds of
wonderful ideas but if we never do anything about those thoughts
all we have are wonderful, beautiful thoughts. The Dr. had to
take the initiative to sell the Kettle to the Clerk and the Clerk
had to mix the ingredients in the pot to make anything happen.
They had to do something with their thoughts and imagination.
Dr. Gunsaulus needed a million dollars to build his school but he
did not have a million dollars. He could think about it, he could
imagine it but it was not until he actually preached his sermon that Sunday
did he get his million dollars.
HIll tells us "First you give life and action and guidance to ideas,
then they take on power of their own and sweep aside all opposition."
